Ingredients

  • 375 ml (1 ½ cup) buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the breading

  • 500 ml (2 cups) flour
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) paprika
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) onion powder
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) garlic powder
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) smoked paprika
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) dried oregano
  • 1.25 ml (1/4 tsp) cayenne pepper

  1. The day before or the morning of the cooking day. In a bowl, whisk the buttermilk with the egg. Season with salt and pepper. Pour into a large airtight bag. Add the chicken drumsticks. Seal and stir to coat well. Leave to marinate in the cool for 8 hours, or overnight.
  2. At the time of cooking. In a large bowl, combine the breading ingredients. Season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, place the chicken drumsticks and the marinade.
  3. Dip the chicken drumsticks in the bowl of breading to coat well. Next soak again in the marinade, then in the breading.
  4. Preheat the air fryer at 180 °C (350 °F).
  5. Place the chicken drumsticks in the basket of the air fryer in a single layer. Spray with cooking coating. Cook for 15 minutes. Turn the drumsticks over and continue cooking for 10 to 12 minutes, until the inside of the chicken is no longer pink, and the thermometer reads 74 °C (165 °F).
